Eumundi State School commended for Best New Learning Centre

11 November 2022

The Eumundi State School was commended for Best New Small Facility Learning Centre at the Association for Learning Environments, 2022 Annual Awards last night in Brisbane.

The school was designed by McVeigh in close consultation with key stakeholders from the school and education sector, which resulted in a built form that relates to the existing campus style whilst providing new general learning areas with connections to outdoor learning spaces and flexibility for modern teaching.

Executive Chairman, Michael McVeigh, said McVeigh was initially provided with a facility brief by the Department of Education identifying and outlining the functional spaces required at Eumundi State School.

"Our design team completed a detailed site analysis, in close consultation with the school, and was able to identify further opportunities resulting in a revised brief that included changing the site location of the proposed building on campus.

“One of the key findings we identified was that a larger covered outdoor learning area (COLA) would be more beneficial, providing greater flexibility,” Michael said.

McVeigh’s CEO, Jane Won, congratulated the McVeigh Team and other delivery partners for their hard work and dedication.

“This award is a testament to the great achievements of our integrated architectural, structural and civil engineering teams who worked in close collaboration with delivery partners, “she said.

“The success of this project sets a benchmark for McVeigh’s further work in the education sector in the future,” Jane said.
